My LP's are long gone. I'm basically stuck in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. I got into outlaw country music in my drinking days. Still enjoy listening to those guys and Creedance and Steely Dan and The Rolling Stones... Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Mark. Merry Christmas!
Born 1960 here too. I went thru all those things and gave away my extensive LP collection about 7 years ago. Gave them away! They were once my prized possession. But I was moving 850 miles away to a smaller house. I did give them to someone who greatly appreciated them.
Regarding the song, “It Never Rains In Southern California” I have a funny story. Hope it will not be offensive. It’s a misheard lyrics story. A friend of mine when we were kids thought they said, “It pours; menopause” lol 😂
So many misheard lyrics are funny. That one is new to me. 🤣 I tried to give a crate of my albums away to a bandmate but insisted on paying me for them. Of course, I could have gotten a lot more selling them, but life is short. They went to a good home.
I went to used vinyl store recently and the prices were pretty high. Used LPs were $10 and up. 😬
I had a used record store guy come by and he went through my entire collection. I got about $200 for the pile he bought from me. A lot of mine were scratched and the jackets wrecked. I had probably 500 albums, maybe? Not sure. I had been collecting since I was a small child, so a lot of ‘em were in pretty bad shape. The majority went to a coworker. I have everything on digital but vinyl sure was fun back in the day. Glad you didn’t get offended by the misheard lyrics LOL
I had two and a half Peaches crates worth of albums at one point. So maybe 350? I always took good care of my albums but vinyl degrades each time you play it and cardboard and paper wear out too. Nothing you can do about it. Like getting old. 🤣
I kept most of my albums for decades. Then my turntable broke, and I ended up giving a lot of my albums to a bandmate (he insisted on paying me for them). But I still have a crate full. I may pick up a few choice vinyls, but I also love having almost everything ever recorded available via streaming.
A couple of my friends (older guys like me) have recently bought turntables. The sound quality is noticeably better than any digital format and it's kind of fun to be spinning records again. I'm tempted to get one myself but I have very few albums left at this point.
Vinyl definitely has a warmer sound than digital. It may be nostalgia, but there is something special about seeing that disc spin and hearing music come out. It is a different experience. But I also love listening to playlists on my phone while I take walks. I guess I have the best of both worlds now. 🤓

All classics. And the best era for music, in my opinion.
Merry Christmas, K.C.

I'm one of those who never left my records behind, still spin them in my hobby room even got my youngest into preferring them.
